Working in partnership with a design company, Sortec has helped to develop several sites entirely driven from a database.

The web design agency required a content management system to allow them to create a flexible web application to allow full online administration and page creation for a web-site.

Sortec helped create a very powerful web application that allows the design agency's customer to carry out the following content management :

• Full online administration including creation of sections, menus and general web-site structuring.
• Advanced user page creation facilities to allow non-technical users (with no knowledge of HTML) to create new web pages including full formatting of blocks of text, images, tables and hyperlinks.
• Automatic image uploading, and formatting - images could be selected off a local user's machine, uploaded to the web-site and formatted according to the site design.
• Page approval system - to allow administrators to check a page before publishing online.
• Page version system - all changes to pages are stored, allowing the administrator to revert to a previous version.
• Full browser detection allowing site to work correctly on a large range of browsers.

The system was originally written to use a Microsoft Access database, but has also been scaled up to use SQL Server to allow more reliable operation of larger sites. Since installation, the system has been successfully modified to include additional features, and is now used on at least five major sites.
