I could at this point start going on about the mobile phone in your pocket having more computing power in it than the whole of the Apollo spacecraft used to put men on the moon. It’s true, but it doesn’t do justice to the capabilities of that little bundle of electronics in your trousers.
The miniaturisation of electronics, advances in , memory, processors, software and above all communications means that a modern mobile phone or PDA device can do far more varied and practical things for you than putting three guys in cotton overalls on the surface of our nearest celestial neighbour.
That’s why as a business you have to consider mobile computing as an essential part of your business strategy. The possibilities for communication, data collection and even data processing can be applied to any business.
We all have to be mobile. Sitting at your desk and waiting for the business to come to us doesn’t work. You can send out emails, mail shots, even hire a plane to do sky writing, but at some point you have to get out there and press the flesh with your customers and suppliers. As soon as you do your umbilical connection with the systems that you have constructed at the office is broken.
What then?
You can take a laptop, or a mobile device with you but even so, if your IT systems can’t communicate with that device then what’s the point? If your customers can see you interacting with your office systems in real time they will know you are a business that at the top of its game.
If you want to know how to build practical systems to keep you and your business working when you and your staff are away from base then give us a call.
