This system was written for our client to assist in the monitoring and management of projects that occur throughout the organisation. The system is designed with information security in mind, by only allowing specific departments to see their projects by default. Higher management gain an extra layer of information, by grouping the projects by department, to allow individual department monitoring to be carried out. Projects have multiple milestones, each with completion dates, and are also assigned budgets that are compared against costs allotted to each project. Over budget projects, or overdue projects are highlighted, allowing the user to drill down through the information to the details of individual milestones. The system also uses a sophisticated change request and acceptance system, ensuring that any changes to the projects such as date or budget alterations are reviewed by management before being accepted or rejected. The project management system is now used by about 25 departments managing over 30 concurrent projects for our client. |
